100 to 150 American troops in the region will be withdrawn.

The United States Armed Forces will not support or be involved in the operation, and United States forces, having defeated the ISIS territorial ‘Caliphate,’ will no longer be in the immediate area, White House Statement, via 'The New York Times'.

The administration's shift in policy defies State Department and Pentagon recommendations.

Former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis resigned because of President Trump's order to withdraw 2,000 American troops stationed in Syria.

Kurdish officials warned that Turkish operations could endanger the tenuous stability in the region.

It called on forces to “defend our homeland from the Turkish aggression.”
